Dementia Friendly Indianapolis is an organization committed to raising awareness about dementia, and supporting those living with it, and their care partners. They did not have a dedicated website for their community, so our team worked with them to design, iterate, and develop a fully functional online space for their purposes.

Testing

Once our low-fidelity wireframes were completed, our team was able to contact potential users through the client in order to test our existing prototype. We did this through a basic usability test where the users were presented with the site and asked to perform certain tasks. A total of 10 users were tested in this study.

Final deliverable

Final deliverable

Through my designs, I maintained simplicity and readability by using large text sizes and high-contrast elements, especially as the main user base consists of older individuals, as it assists them in reading words and differentiating portions of the site.

I also used navigation buttons in order to keep scrolling to a minimum, like on the main nav bar, the home page mission statement, and dementia education page.

The events page was created to help users find various activities around their community, so I added filters and search features to make it easier to locate this information as it pertains to each user. Contact and organizer info was also added in to give the user a form of contact if they had any questions.
